Facades beautify buildings and create the architectural aesthetics that make them unique. They tell and portray what people think and feel. They give the building a character and make it live. Aside from their artistic impact, facades also play critical roles in a building's energy performance, internal functions and environment. They can have positive or negative effects on every living, working and moving thing around the building, as well as the living things within the building.
The existence of facades has always been a source of motivation for architects and engineers to search for different materials and innovative designs. The technologies and systems experienced in the digitalization journey of the industry have created new concepts. Breathable, parametric, green, organic or dynamic facades, or facades created with materials such as solar panels, lighting and sensors have become common choices in today's building industry.
